Starting Out: My first tulip tour in March 2018

March 2018 marked a milestone for me. With a newly purchased van for transporting passengers, I began picking up tourists for my first-time tour of the tulip fields. It was one of my happiest days, the day my dream became a reality.

A childhood inspiration

Growing up, I spent many days in the tulip fields owned by my father. By the age of 11, I began helping by selecting healthy tulips and removing the diseased ones to keep the crops thriving. There's a unique charm in strolling through fields awash with vibrant colors.

The seed of my future tours was planted when an American tourist visited our fields, curious and full of questions about tulips. Even though I couldn't understand English back then, his interest made me realize that I could share this part of Dutch heritage with others.

Gaining experience and setting out

After finishing school, I worked in the tulip industry to gain experience. However, each spring reminded me of my passion for sharing the tulip experience with others. Traveling and working abroad broadened my perspective, and upon returning home, I was determined to start my own tourism business.

I noticed that tourists were missing out on the best tulip fields the Netherlands has to offer. While many headed to Keukenhof, I decided to start tours right from the hotels in Amsterdam. The challenge was getting noticed online, but social media became a game-changer, helping us grow a significant following.

A successful first year

Our first year was a hit thanks to perfect weather and stunning blooms. Our guests shared their photos and tagged us, which helped us grow even more. It was just unfortunate that the tulip season was so brief; the blooms are cut early to encourage bulb growth.

An unexpected halt

The following year looked promising until COVID-19 brought everything to a halt. It was heartbreaking, but we knew we had to pause our tours.

Finally, two years later, we restarted our tulip tours. It was incredible to bring tourists back to the fields and share the beauty of the tulips with them once again.

A heartfelt thank you

As we continue our tours, we can't help but reflect on our journey. The success of our tulip tours is not just a tale of flowers and fields—it's a story built on support, curiosity, and the shared love for nature's beauty.

We owe a huge thank you to everyone who has made this possible. To the tourists who brought enthusiasm to our tours, to our social media followers who spread the word, and to the local communities and fellow tulip enthusiasts—your support has been the sunshine and rain to our endeavors.

As we gear up for the future, we promise to keep the experience as welcoming as the tulip fields themselves. Here's to more adventures among the tulips!

Thank you for being a part of this journey. Your support means the world to us.
