Best tulip fields near Amsterdam for 2025
When should you actually plan a visit to the flower fields?
There are many places to visit tulip fields from Amsterdam this year. In fact, in 2025, no less than 12,861 hectares—equivalent to 18,000 football fields—have been planted with tulips around Amsterdam.

In which months can I visit the fields?
In the Netherlands, spring begins at the start of April, bringing plenty of sunshine and color. The best time to visit is in April and May. But don’t worry—if you arrive earlier, you can join our Early Flower Tour from Amsterdam.
The first tour in the Netherlands
Starting on March 28, we begin our Early Flower Tour, visiting the earliest blooming areas near Amsterdam.
North of Amsterdam lies the largest early-flowering region in the Netherlands. Here, the sandy soils allow flowers to bloom early. Unlike in other areas where cow farmers dominate, this region is home to gardening companies that focus solely on growing flower crops.
What flowers can you find here and what colors?
During this period, you’ll see hyacinths, daffodils, and crocuses. The air is filled with the scent of hyacinths, and you’ll spot vibrant colors like purple, blue, pink, yellow, and white. Because the colors are limited, you’ll often see vast fields of yellow daffodils or blue hyacinths stretching as far as the eye can see. This is a unique sight that differs from the later tulip season.
In what period do these flowers bloom in 2025?
The tours begin on March 28—earlier than ever before in Amsterdam. These flowers typically bloom until mid-April, though if the weather is cold, they can last until the end of April. It all depends on Mother Nature.
When can we see tulips?
Each year, we eagerly anticipate the start of the Tulip Route, as it depends entirely on nature. Normally, we start the route around April 12. Some years, tulips bloom as early as April 5, so we always wait for the first fields to be in full bloom before beginning.
From April 12, 2025, we will drive past the tulip fields daily. Each day, more color is added to the Dutch landscape, making the scenery even more breathtaking. Our guides are just as excited as our visitors, as every day brings a more colorful view.
Which other areas are we going to?
We will visit the tulip fields in West Friesland and the Beemster-De Schermer area. These fields have a rich history, blooming in polders that were drained by 17th-century windmills.

West Friesland – Authentic tulip fields in historic cities
Distance from Amsterdam: 45 minutes by car
West Friesland offers an authentic tulip experience, with colorful flowers set against historic towns. The season runs from early April to mid-May, making it one of the best springtime destinations. We visit fields in Hoorn, Enkhuizen, Schagen, Alkmaar, and Twisk, as well as smaller villages like Onderdijk, Venhuizen, and Avenhorn. Driving through the region along the "IJsselmeer," our guide provides engaging commentary about the area.
De Beemster/Schermer
30 minutes by car from Amsterdam
Known as the "windmill area," this region is a highlight of our 2025 tour. Here, you’ll still find 13 historic windmills that once drained water from the polder to create farmland for flowers and crops. Along the route, we visit one of the historic mills in Schermer—the museum mill in Schermer—a fascinating addition to the Tulip Route.
