Cycle along the most beautiful tulips in the Netherlands with our cycling routes

For sure, the best tips for a destination are given by the locals. Usually people keep the best routes and places a secret to avoid mass tourism. But we love the cyling routes so much that we share our favorite cycling routes along the most beautiful flower fields with you.

Why? Because we want everyone to get a glimpse of this national pride! The routes are perfect for a wonderful day cycling through Dutch nature. But be careful in the (small) villages, especially in the spring they are very popular and busy with traffic. Good cycle paths can be lacking sometimes and as a result you will be sharing the road with many people. Be aware of this.

Cycle route between Hoorn and Enkhuizen

These routes bring you from the center of the town Hoorn to Enkhuizen. There are several optional routes, but you are guaranteed to pass the most beautiful villages of the Netherlands. The routes are clearly displayed on maps (see below) and are easy to follow without a guide. Install Google Maps on your phone just to be sure and you will arrive at your destination.

Need a break or curious about the tulip? Then stop halfway at our tulip-picking garden and enjoy a drink and the expertise of our professionals on the spot.

Feel like bringing a bunch of flowers? Then you are at the right place, the Tulips Tour Garden is a picking garden! In contrast to other tulip fields, you are allowed to touch the tulips and even to pick them for your own home. Something that is unusual in other fields because of the risk of spreading diseases among the flowers. So be sure to navigate towards Venhuizen and visit our Tulips Garden.

Which other villages do you pass on these routes? Almost too many to mention; From Wijdenes to Zwaagdijk and from Westwoud to Midwoud. Each of these are beautiful villages in an impressive landscape. Old farmhouses, spinning windmills and idyllic campsites. Very sporty? Then perhaps you can indulge yourself at one of the largest kite surfing spots in the country in Schellinkhout.

Cycle past the tulips in the Noordelijk Zandgebied

Another area where the tulip fields are impressive is in the routes from Schagen to Callantsoog. In the neighbourhood are also Breezand and Den Helder located, also nice places to stay.

These places are located in the so-called north head of the province of North Holland. The nice thing about these routes is the varied landscape. At Callantsoog you cycle straight into the dunes and can visit the North Sea. But you will also pass wide, green meadows and bulb fields.

The barracks of the Royal Netherlands Navy can be found in Den Helder and also Fort Kijkduin is nearby. This route leads you along the first bloomers of the season, the daffodils, this is a route that can be cycled early in the season. Hyacinths are also in full bloom around the beginning of March and give you the first feeling of spring after a long and dark winter! Think of a pallet of yellow and purple, overwhelmingly beautiful.

Cycling through the bulb region

During these routes you will encounter the most impressive bulb fields in the country. Think of a vast area with many bicycle routes and the most contiguous tulip fields worldwide. Here too, the early bloomers, daffodils and hyacinths, can be admired from as early as mid-March.

These routes can be combined with a visit to the most charming historic villages such as De Zilk, Noordwijkerhout, Voorhout and Lisse. The latter you undoubtedly know, there is the largest flower garden of our country, of course, established, the Keukenhof.

So, get on your bike this spring and let yourself be overwhelmed by all the beauty of this season!
